SAN DIEGO - The 68th-ranked San Diego State women's tennis team kicked off its busy week on a high note on Tuesday, capturing all nine matches en route to a 7-0 shutout over Washington in a non-conference dual at Aztec Tennis Center. Sophomore Holly Bagshaw teamed with junior Sisse Nielsen to clinch the doubles point and later added a victory in singles, helping the Aztecs improve to 6-8 on the season. Meanwhile with the loss, the Huskies fall to 1-11.

SDSU made a statement early on, claiming all three doubles matches for just the third time this season. The tandem of Kathryn Kitts and Milana Yusupov got things rolling for the Scarlet and Black, disposing of Washington's Allison Rainey and Lauren Summers, 8-2, at the No. 3 position. Moments later, the Aztecs secured the point when Bagshaw and Nielsen combined to topple Melinda Wong and Tara Simpson, 8-3, at the No. 2 spot. San Diego State then completed the sweep after the duo of Alesya Vidov and Eliska Krausova pinned an 8-4 defeat on the Huskies' pairing of Mathilde Cor and Joyce Ardies on the No. 1 court.

The Aztecs brought out the brooms in singles play as well, capturing all six encounters. First off the court was Ozge Atalay, who knocked off Summers, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 6 in her first action since Feb. 16. Esther Cadua soon followed after dispatching Wong by the identical score in the fourth spot. Krausova then sealed Washington's fate with a straight-set triumph over Cor, 6-3, 6-4, at the No. 1 position.

With the outcome already decided, SDSU collected a pair of wins from Yusupov and Bagshaw at Nos. 5 and 3, respectively, in a super-tiebreaker format. Both Aztec players jumped out to early leads only to see their Husky adversaries rally to tie the score in the second set. However, Yusupov rebounded in the tiebreaker over Rainey, 6-2, 4-6, 10-6, while Bagshaw prevailed in similar fashion over Simpson, 6-4, 6-2, 12-10, in another tight battle. The Aztecs completed their second whitewash of the season when Vidov got by Ardies at No. 2, 7-6(4), 7-5, for her third victory in a row.

San Diego State returns to action this weekend when it travels to Las Vegas, Nev., to open up Mountain West Conference play. The Aztecs will take on Air Force, Wyoming and Colorado State on successive days beginning Friday, March 23, at Fertitta Tennis Complex.
