COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State right-handed pitcher Bruce Billings has been named Mountain West Conference Pitcher of the Week for the fourth time in his collegiate career. He received the honor for his performance in SDSU's contest vs. Michigan last Saturday during the Tony Gwynn 2007 Classic.

It marks the second straight week that an Aztec hurler captured the conference award after sophomore Lance Sewell received the honor last week after his win over Baylor.

In contest vs. Michigan last Saturday, played in front of 13,791 fans at PETCO Park in San Diego, Billings (1-0) picked up his first victory of the season in a 4-1 win over the Wolverines. In 7.0 innings of work, he struck out four, while only allowing one earned run, four hits and one walk.

Billings allowed only one runner past first base and held the Wolverines, who were batting .314 on the season coming into the weekend, to a .167 batting average in the game. For his effort he was named to the all-tournament team in a field that also included Oklahoma and the University of San Diego.

San Diego State returns to action on Tuesday (Mar. 13) as it travels north to face UC Riverside at 6:00 p.m. at the Riverside Sports Complex.
