ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The San Diego State women's track and field squad finished in second place with 99 team points at the inaugural TCR Race Productions Invitational at the Albuquerque Convention Center. The Aztecs received strong performances across the board and Mandy Upuu won her second consecutive 800-meter run this season.

Upuu, a junior, took home the 800 title after completing the race in 2 minutes, 15.91 seconds just one week after claiming the same crown at the Mountain T's Invitational in Flagstaff, Ariz. Kristin Olafsdottir posted a runner-up finish (2:16.38), while Lisa Naucler and Jackie Duncan posted fifth- and sixth-place efforts, respectively.

In the 60-meter dash, sophomore Karoline Koehler qualified for the finals with a preliminary time of 7.54, good for fourth in school history. Later in the championship heat, Koehler came in fifth place with a clocking of 7.70.

Junior Sherraine Pencil was the top Aztec performer in the 200-meter dash turning in a time of 24.76. Her effort was a team season best and the seventh-best in program history.

Meanwhile, Nicole Stone found herself in third place with a 400-meter time of 56.28, placing her eighth in SDSU history and third among all competitors.

In the one-mile run, the top five was full of Aztecs as Lisa Naucler finished in second place with a time of 5:13.41, followed by Celeste Tyson (3rd, 5:13.99) and Jackie Duncan 95th, 5:19.06

In the lone relay of the invitational, San Diego State's 4x400 team crossed the finish line second with a clocking of 3:45.20. The quartet of Pencil, Stone, Olafsdottir, and Priscilla Chapu registered the fourth-fastest effort in Aztec history.

San Diego State will have the next week off before returning to the same site for the 2007 Mountain West Conference indoor championships, Feb. 22-24.
