SAN DIEGO - San Diego State freshman Caitlin Atkinson has been named the Mountain West Conference Diver of the Week after her record-setting performance at last Saturday's dual meet at the University of San Diego.

Atkinson, from Laguna Niguel, Calif., won both diving events against the Toreros last weekend, breaking the Aztecs records in both.

In the one-meter, she scored 273.15 to break the mark she set earlier this season when she posted a 268.59 at the UNLV Invitational. That score is also the ninth best in the MWC this season and made her a Zone E qualifier, the next step toward advancing to the NCAA Championship meet next month.

In the three-meter event, Atkinson carded a 265.50 to break teammate Megan Flanagan's record of 265.20 set in mid-November at SDSU's dual meet at North Texas.

San Diego State concluded its 2006-07 regular season with a record of 9-8 in dual meets after last weekend's 177-123 win at USD. It marks the most victories for the team since the 2001-02 season. The Aztecs will now have two weeks to prepare for the upcoming Mountain West Conference Championships to be held Feb. 21-24 in Oklahoma City.
