A total of 27 San Diego State student-athletes have been named Mountain West Conference scholar-athletes for the 2005-06 academic year, the league office announced Tuesday. To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least two semesters at SDSU, while maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5 or better and have participated in varsity competition in their respective sport.
The women's crew team had eight rowers win the award, followed by the women's track and field squad and women's soccer team with four selections each. Individually, junior Lisa Crampton (Livermore, Calif.) received double recognition as a member of both the cross country and track teams.
Other San Diego State student-athletes honored include men's tennis All-American Markus Dickhardt (Marburg, Germany), offensive lineman Patrick Justman (Palo Alto, Calif.), women's basketball point guard Kate Eveland (Southlake, Texas), as well as sophomore water polo player Becca Ur (Lompoc, Calif.), who was earlier named to the 2006 Association of Water Polo Coaches (AWPC) women's all-academic team.
