Thirty-seven San Diego State student-athletes have been named to the Mountain West Conference all-academic team for the 2006 spring semester. It is the fourth consecutive year that at least 30 Aztecs have been honored by the league.

In order to be selected, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at SDSU while earning a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their respective team.

San Diego State's women's track and field squad had 13 of its members honored, while the Aztec swimming and diving team followed with six selections.

Included on the conference all-academic team was the tandem of senior Markus Dickhardt (Marburg, Germany) and junior Benedikt Stronk (Berlin, Germany), who advanced to the men's tennis NCAA doubles quarterfinals in late May.

Other Aztecs honored include four-time all-conference softball pitcher Celena Velasquez (Tucson, Ariz.), three-time all-MWC individual tennis selection Dita Hauerlandova (Prague, Czech Republic), and league outdoor track and field freshman of the year Kristin Olafsdottir (Reykjavik, Iceland).
