SAN DIEGO (AP) - Brandon Heath scored 25 points to become the Mountain West Conference career scoring leader in San Diego State's 74-63 win over Loyola Marymount on Saturday night.

Heath surpassed the conference scoring mark of 1,782 points, set by New Mexico's Ruben Douglas, with a 3-pointer from the top of the key at the 11:47 mark of the second half.

The basket gave the Aztecs a 57-39 lead.

Mohamed Abukar scored 17 points for San Diego State (10-2) and Kyle Spain added 13.

The Aztecs increased their 35-25 halftime lead with an 8-2 run to start the second half on a pair of 3-point shots by Heath and Jerome Habel's lay-up off an alley-oop pass to go ahead 43-27. San Diego State continued to pull away and took its biggest lead at 63-42 on Abukar's jumper with 8:26 left.

The Lions slowly cut into the lead, getting to 66-60 on Brandon Worthy's 3-pointer with 2:29 remaining. But Loyola Marymount scored just one basket the rest of the way.

Worthy led Loyola Marymount (7-5) with 22 points and Matthew Knight had 16.

Heath extended his school record by scoring in double figures for the 37th consecutive game.
