TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - San Diego State senior Tally Hall (Gig Harbor, Wash.) has been named an All-American by College Soccer News for the second consecutive season. Hall earned third-team honors after being named to the first team in 2005.
In other men's soccer news, Nick Cardenas (Thornton, Colo.), the Pac-10 Freshman of the Year, was named to the College Soccer News all-Freshman team.
Hall, who was a semifinalist for the 2006 M.A.C. Hermann Trophy, went 9-5-4 with a 1.04 goals against average and 80.0 shots-on-goal save percentage this season. In Pac-10 play, Hall was even better, going 5-1-3 and leading the conference in shutouts (four), goals against average (0.72) and shots-on-goal save percentage (0.72).
Hall, a first-team all-Pac-10 honoree for the second straight season, earned second-team All-America accolades by NSCAA/adidas earlier this month.
Hall was named Co-Most Valuable Player of The Soccer Post/Aztec Classic and later garnered all-tournament accolades at the USD/San Diego State Soccer Classic. On Sept. 26, he was named the Pac-10 Player of the Week for the first time in his career and on Oct. 2 he was selected to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week.
Hall recently returned from a trip to Sweden for a week-long trial with Swedish top flight bronze medalists Hammarby IF. He will also attend the 2007 adidas Major League Soccer Player Combine from Jan. 4-8, 2007, in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
Cardenas was named 2006 all-Freshman by College Soccer News after earning the Pac-10 Freshman of the Year earlier this year. Despite being a defender, Cardenas tied for the team lead with six goals in 2006. He was also selected to the Top Soccer Drawer All-Rookie Team
Cardenas, who was called up to the U.S. U-20 National Team Camp in early October, was named the NSCAA National Player of the Week on Nov. 1.
In addition, Cardenas was named the Pac-10 Player of the Week (Oct. 31) and was also selected to the Soccer America Team of the Week (Nov. 1), College Soccer News National Team of the Week (Oct. 30) and to The Soccer Post/Aztec Classic all-tournament team.
