LARAMIE, Wyo. - San Diego State saw a short two-match win streak ended Saturday evening in Laramie as it dropped a 3-1 (23-30, 25-30, 30-23, 23-30) decision to the University of Wyoming at the UniWyo Sports Complex. The loss dropped the Aztecs to 10-15 overall and 4-9 in Mountain West Conference play. Meanwhile, the home side improved to 11-12 on the year and 5-7 in the MWC.

San Diego State's offense was led by 15 kills from freshman Stephanie Darnall, one of four Aztecs to end the night in double figures in that category. She added 17 kills to complete her eighth double-double effort of the 2006 campaign.

Middle blocker Lindsey Mahan, coming off a career-best 14-kill performance last weekend against TCU, came through with 13 kills and added five blocks, three digs and a service ace while hitting .414 for the match. Seniors Melanie Greene and Audra Dent added 12 and 11 kills respectively.

Setter Leah Lathrop contributed 51 assists, her second-best output of the season. The sophomore from Phoenix also chipped in with 17 digs on the night, a total that represented a career high. Elsewhere, freshman Bailee Hellwig had eight kills and a .583 attack percentage while libero Aime Cordeiro had 25 digs, her third-best output of the year.

For the Cowgirls, five players finished in double figures in kills led by Lauren Scott with 20 and Rachel Smith with 15.

Although SDSU hit .262 for the match, it got off to a slow start, hitting just .160 in the first two games. A .400 attack percentage in game three led the Aztecs to a win, but even a .324 mark in game four wasn't enough to see the visitors to victory.

Wyoming, which had a team hitting percentage of .268, led the Aztecs in kills (72-63), assists (65-59) and service aces (7-2) while SDSU had the upper had in digs 74-68) and almost a two-to-one advantage in blocks (11-6).

San Diego State will now return home and play its final three regular-season matches in Peterson Gym beginning with a contest against Colorado State on Friday, Nov. 10, at 7:00 p.m. (PST).
