LOS ANGELES - Five divers for the SDSU swimming and diving team traveled north on Friday to compete at the USC Diving Invitational held at the Trojans' McDonald's Swim Stadium. Competitors from the host school along with UCLA, Hawai'i and Air Force also took part in the competition in which no team scores were recorded.
For Aztecs competed in the 3-meter event in the morning with freshman Amy Freeberg advancing to the finals after finishing 12th in the 6-dive preliminary round with a score of 212.45. SDSU's other competitors included Megan Flanagan (13th - 212.50), Kathleen Heuring (14th - 206.80), Caitlin Atkinson (15th - 206.30) and Kristen Maurer (20th - 185.85).
Freeberg went on to an 11th-place finish in the final with a score of 210.95.
In the afternoon's 1-meter diving, Heuring led SDSU with 205.85 points to place 11th. Freeberg (195.80), Flanagan (193.30) and Maurer (191.40) finished 13th through 15th respectively. Heuring went on to compete in the 1-meter finals, improving her score to 213.05 and ending the day in 10th place.
