-The Records: The San Diego State women's basketball team plays its final two non-conference road games of the 2006-07 season this week, when it travels to Utah Valley State and Southern Utah University. The pair of away contests are part of a three-game string of outings away from Cox Arena and are the only non-league games outside the city of San Diego for the Aztecs this year.
SDSU is coming off a rough loss at in-city rival USD on Sunday, which completed a stretch of three games in just six days to open the season. The Aztecs are 1-2 overall and play a pair of schools, Utah Valley State (1-2) and Southern Utah (0-3), that they claimed victories over in 2004-05.
-SDSU Head Coach Beth Burns: Burns (Ohio Wesleyan, 1979) is in the second year of her second stint as head coach at San Diego State. She led the Aztecs for eight seasons from 1989 to 1997, before returning in 2005. She has an overall head coaching record of 236-174 in 15 seasons, while she is 155-109in 10 campaigns at SDSU.
-Utah Valley State Head Coach Cathy Nixon: Nixon is in her 13th season at Utah Valley State and owns a school and career record of 217-126. She is 0-1 all-time against San Diego State.
-Utah Valley State Series History: SDSU and Utah Valley State meet for the second time and the first time in Orem, Utah. The Aztecs own a 1-0 advantage in the all-time series (Last: SDSU def. Utah Valley State, 91-45, on Feb. 10, 2005, in San Diego, Calif.).
-Southern Utah Head Coach Steve Hodson: Hodson, a former prep coach and men's assistant, is in his first year at his alma mater and as a head coach on the women's collegiate level.
-Southern Utah Series History: San Diego State owns a perfect 3-0 all-time record against Southern Utah with the last two meetings, including in 2004, being in San Diego (Last: SDSU def. Southern Utah, 51-37, on Dec. 30, 2004, in San Diego, Calif.)
