MISSION BAY, SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State crew team wrapped up a successful weekend at the Row for the Cure at Mission Bay in San Diego on Sunday. The Aztecs had two boats place in the top three in the Novice race, a day after the Varsity Eight went fifth and seventh at the Head of the American.

SDSU's "A" Novice boat took first with a time of 16 minutes, 22 seconds, well ahead of second-place Orange Coast (16:48). The Aztecs' "B" Novice boat was third at 16:54.

"Both novice boats had great races this weekend," SDSU assistant coach Colin Truex said. "They pulled hard and maintained their composure throughout the whole race. Getting first and third place is a perfect way to start their rowing careers and I hope we can keep learning and carry this momentum throughout the rest of the season. I am very proud of them and look forward to our next race this Sunday."

SDSU will host its annual alumni race and family day at Mission Bay on Saturday before competing in the San Diego Fall Classic on Sunday.
