COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State's Aaron Goldberg (Encinitas, Calif.) has been named the Mountain West Conference Men's Golfer of the Month for November, the league office announced Friday. The Aztec junior also earned the award for October, becoming the first SDSU player to capture the honor in consecutive months since the conference's inception in 1999.

Battling windy conditions throughout, Goldberg finished alone in fourth place out of 88 golfers at the University of Hawai'i Fall Intercollegiate, Nov. 6-8, in Kaneohe, Hawaii. The La Costa Canyon High alumnus was one of just six players to complete the 54-hole tournament in red figures, carding a 2-under-par 214 at the challenging 6,528-yard, par-72 Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course.

With his effort, Goldberg became the Aztecs' top finisher for the fifth consecutive time this year, helping SDSU grab the fourth spot out of 16 schools in the team standings. He also notched his fourth top-five individual finish in just five tournaments so far this season, compared to only two top-five performances in 13 events during the 2005-06 campaign.

In 15 rounds this year, Goldberg has already finished below par on 11 occasions, compared to 14 times over 38 total rounds last season. At the conclusion of the Aztecs' 2006 fall tournament schedule, Goldberg ranks third on the MWC leaderboard with a 70.00 stroke average and is also the conference leader with at least 15 rounds played.

San Diego State will return to action this spring when it travels to Wahiawa, Hawaii, for the John Burns Intercollegiate, Feb. 21-23, 2007, at Leilehua Golf Course. The Aztecs competed in the same tournament last year, placing fourth out of 19 teams.
