The Series:
SDSU has improved to 9-7 all-time against UNLV and has won each of the last three in San Diego .... The Aztecs have limited the Rebels to seven points or fewer in three of the last four meetings ... SDSU has won four of the last five matchups.

Sub-100:
The Aztecs held an opponent to fewer than 100 yards on the ground for the second time this season. SDSU limited UTEP to only 30 rushing yards in the opener, the fewest by an Aztec opponent since 2001 .... The Aztec defense has held an opponent under the 100-yard mark in passing yardage four other games.

KO Completion:
Quarterback Kevin O'Connell completed all seven of his pass attempts for 68 yards. For the season, O'Connell has completed 23 of his 27 attempts for an 85.2 completion-percentage.

Red Zone Stalemate:
The Aztec defense has stopped opponents from scoring in the red zone on 15 occasions in 2006, including four times tonight (4 fumbles, 7 missed FG, 2 INT, 1 downs, 1 end of half).

Our Side Of the Field:
Aztec opponents have started a drive in SDSU territory on 20 occasions in 2006, including twice tonight. The Aztec defense has limited opponents to scores on just nine of those 20 possessions.

It's No Good
SDSU opponents are now just 9-20 on field-goal attempts this season, making only 45 percent of their kicks ... Seven of the missed kicks have come when the opponent has entered the redzone with five misses from 40 yards or less.

Bass Brings It Back
SDSU junior safety Ray Bass logged his second career interception and his first career touchdown in the first quarter to give the Aztecs a 7-0 lead. Bass returned the ball 49 yards for SDSU's first interception return for a score since the 2005 Wyoming game when Marcus Demps brought one back 20 yards in the fourth quarter ... The pick was the Aztecs first in 2006 since the Air Force contest ... This is the second straight year that SDSU has returned an interception for a TD against UNLV, as linebacker Joe Martin brought one back 84 yards in Las Vegas a year ago.

Another Bass Note
Ray Bass doubled his previous career high for tackles with a team-leading eight against UNLV. Bass had four against Air Force and BYU.

First Quarter, Half Shutout:
SDSU did not allow its opponent to score in the first quarter for the fourth time this season with three of those instances coming at home ... SDSU has also shutout its opponent in the first half of a game for the third time (also vs. Air Force and Wisconsin).

Long Drive
SDSU's 15-play scoring drive ties as its longest this season in terms of number of plays. The Aztecs have had two other 15-play drives versus Utah and San Jose State.

Redshirt freshman Jon Toledo logged his first career reception in the first quarter ... Senior tight end Robert Miller added his first career catch in the second quarter ... Chaz Schilens has caught a pass in each of his last 15 contests, while Brett Swain extended his streak of games with a reception to 10 ... Antwan Applewhite blocked his second career kick tonight and first of the season. It is the Aztecs' second blocked kick in 2006, but first on a field-goal attempt ... SDSU kicker Garrett Palmer has yet to miss an extra-point this year, making all 16 of his attempts ... SDSU linebacker Andrew Schantz logged his first career interception in the fourth quarter, giving the Aztecs two or more picks in a game for the second time in 2006 (4 INTs vs. UTEP) ... SDSU had six PBU versus UNLV, after tallying five against Wyoming last week. The Aztecs only had 13 PBUs prior to the contest in Laramie.
