LA JOLLA, Calif. - San Diego State registered a 10th-place finish at the 17-team UCSD Triton Classic on the campus of UC San Diego Saturday morning. Freshman Jessica Walker led a group of seven Aztecs in the 6K meet with a 51st-place time of 25.11.90.

For six of the seven SDSU runners, the race was their first of the season on a 6,000-meter course. The lone Aztec to have competed in a 6K this season was junior Lital Azulay, who turned in a season-best time of 25:16.30, to finish in 53rd of 151 competitors.

Crossing the finish line right behind Azulay were a pair of freshmen in Makenzie Mabry and Lindsay Barajas. Mabry ended with a time of 25:26.00 (57th place), while Barajas completed the course in 25:29.40, good for a 58th-place finish.

Fellow classmate Darien Buc was the 93rd runner to complete the course as she finished with a time of 26:34.10, while junior Anne Vieira (26:45.80 - 98th) and sophomore Amanda Maydeck (27:03.10 - 105th) rounded out the Aztec entry in the meet.

Next week, San Diego State travels to Sunnyvale, Calif., for the Santa Clara Invitational (Oct. 14) where it will look to defend its 2005 team title. The race is set for a 10:15 a.m. PT start.
