GOLD RIVER, Calif. - The San Diego State crew team opened its 2006 fall season at the Head of the American at Lake Natoma in Gold River, Calif., on Saturday afternoon.
The Aztecs had three boats compete in the Collegiate Eight race and all three placed in the top 12 in the 21-boat race. Leading the way for SDSU was "A" boat, which finished in fifth place with a time of 17 minutes, 56 seconds over the three-mile course.
The "C" boat took seventh in 18:07, just two seconds behind the host Sacramento State's "A" boat, while San Diego State's "B" boat was 12th wit ha time of 18:17.
The Aztec novice boats will participate in the Row for Cure at Mission Bay on Sunday.
