FORT WORTH, Texas - In the final match of the regular season, the San Diego State women's soccer team fell to the TCU Horned Frogs, 1-0, at Garvey-Rosenthal Stadium. The Aztecs have now lost four in a row.

San Diego State's offense got the ball rolling early as they had seven shots within the first 15 minutes of the game. Switching to a 3-4-3 scheme, the Aztecs didn't allow a Horned Frogs' shot until the 25th minute when Mountain West Conference shots leader Lizzy Karoly fired a shot at junior goalkeeper Cat Burson (Poway, Calif.), who was there to make her first save of the afternoon. Heading into the half, both teams had yet to score a goal.

TCU would change that early in the second half when a shot by Casey Glass hit the crossbar and then bounced right back to her. With the ball still in the air, Glass headed the ball past Burson and gave TCU a 1-0 lead. SDSU would take 12 more shots to give them a total of 23 but none of them would find the net. TCU goalkeeper Katy Buchanan would make 10 saves in the contest while SDSU's Burson had three.

The 23 shots by SDSU were the most by the Aztecs since their first game of 2006 versus Butler when they had 24. Freshman Jessica Gordon (Tujunga, Calif.) led all Aztecs with five shots (two on goal) followed by junior Jessica Girdner (San Diego, Calif.) with four. Three other Aztecs each registered three shots.

San Diego State (6-11-2, 2-3-2 MWC) will now have a few days off before traveling to Salt Lake City, Utah for the 2006 Mountain West Conference Championships. Opening-round matches will begin on Wednesday, Nov. 1.
