KAPOLEI, Hawaii - The San Diego State women's golf team finds itself in eighth place after 36 holes at the 16-team Kent Youel Invitational in Kapolei, Hawaii. Sophomore Jackie Kazarian (Dana Point, Calif.) shot a 10-over 154 on the par-72, 6,138-yard Kapolei Golf Course to lead all Aztecs. She is currently tied for 20th place.

SDSU shot an opening round 26-over 314 to finish ninth after 18 holes. They moved up to eighth after shooting 23-over 311 in round two to finish day one at 625 (+49). Sophomore Maki Kamimura (West Covina, Calif.) shot a 3-over 75 in the first round to tie a season-best. Kamimura followed up her first round score with an 8-over 80 to end up tied for 25th after 36 holes.

Senior Jamie Oliver (Los Alamitos, Calif.), who came into the tournament after an 11th place tie at the TaylorMade Aztec Fall Classic, finds herself tied for 30th after carding a 12-over 156. Oliver had a tough first round, shooting an 81, but rebounded nicely in round two with a 75.

Junior MacKenzie Swecker (Winnemucca, Nev.) finished the day at 19-over 163 while classmate Anna Booth (Coffs Harbour, Australia) carded a 22-over 166.

San Diego State sits 20 strokes behind host Hawai'i, who fired a 605(+29) in the first 36 holes to lead the tournament at its home course by two strokes over UC Irvine. SMU's Lacey Jones leads the 85-player field at even par 144.

The final 18 holes will be played tomorrow with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start from Kapolei, Hawaii.
