CORVALLIS, Ore. - San Diego State saw it three-match unbeaten run come to an end as it dropped a 3-1 decision to Oregon State at the Salbasgeon Suite Invitational in Corvallis Friday evening. The Aztecs dominated the opening game only to see the Beavers come back for the 19-30, 30-24, 30-24, 34-32 win.

The match was OSU's home opener and saw it end a six-game losing streak to improve to 6-2. The loss evened SDSU's record at 4-4.

The Aztecs were led by Melanie Greene, who recorded a double-double with 19 kills and 20 digs. She led all players in kills, and her dig total represented a career high for the outside hitter from Nampa, Idaho.

Freshman Stephanie Darnall continued her fine early-season play with 16 kills and a personal season-best 18 digs. In addition, Audra Dent and Bailee Hellwig had seven and six blocks respectively while Aime Cordeiro had a match-high 26 digs.

San Diego State led the match in almost every statistical category, but couldn't get the past the determined Beavers, who used a total of 15 players over the four games. The Aztecs had more kills (70-64, assists (67-59), digs (80-59) and blocks (13-12.5) than the hosts while hitting .201 for the match compared to .186 for Oregon State.

SDSU now moves over to Eugene, Ore., where it will face undefeated University of Oregon (6-0) Saturday night (Sept. 9) at 7:00 p.m.
