FORT WORTH, Texas - San Diego State suffered its fifth straight defeat Saturday evening as it dropped a 3-0 (30-19, 30-22, 38-36) decision to MWC foe TCU at the University Rec Center in Fort Worth, Texas. The Aztecs were swept for the third consecutive match as they saw their record drop to 6-11 overall and 0-5 in league play. TCU, meanwhile, ended a short two-match losing streak with the win over SDSU and improved to 14-4 (3-2 MWC) on the year.

Aztec senior outside hitter Melanie Greene was the lone SDSU player to reach double figures in kills with 10. She also had nine digs and three block assists.

Stephanie Darnall and Audra Dent had eight kills apiece for San Diego State while libero Aime Cordeiro recorded 13 digs. Kelly Wahlin, who had nine block assists Friday at New Mexico, led SDSU once again with four.

LeMeita Smith led all players with 20 kills for the Horded Frogs with teammates Lauren Otto and Anna Vaughn chipping in with 10 apiece. Otto completed a double-double effort with 11 digs while setter Nirelle Hampton had 38 assists and 10 digs.

Game one belonged to CU from start to finish as they hit .438. Hampton had five aces in the game to lead her team to the 11-point win.

In the second game, SDSU took a quick 3-0 lead, but the home side came back to eventually take the lead at 10-9. The teams battled through 12 ties with the Aztecs never being able to regain the lead. With the scored tied at 18-18, the Horned Frogs went on a 12-4 run to close out the contest.

Game three saw the teams go back and forth with San Diego State taking a 26-24 lead late in the contest. TCU came back to grab a 28-27 lead, but SDSU knotted the score at 29-all and had seven game-point situations, but were unable to capitalize. A kill by Otto gave the horned Frogs a 37-36 lead. That was followed by a kill by Smith to end the match.

TCU hit .298 over the three games while San Diego State had a .164 attack percentage.

The Aztecs now return home and will host Wyoming on Thursday, Oct. 5, in Peterson Gym in their lone match of the week.
