SERIES NOTES
* With the loss, SDSU fell to 15-17-2 all-time against San Jose State ... The loss broke a seven-game Aztec win streak.

HEADS UP ON HENDERSON
* Redshirt freshman Atiyyah Henderson recorded a career high in carries (24) and matched a season-best with 98 rushing yards for the second game in a row ... His 24 carries are the most by an SDSU player this season and the most by an Aztec since Lynell Hamilton had 26 at Hawai'i in 2005.

FIRST TIMERS
* A pair of Aztecs got their first career starts Saturday. Offensively, redshirt freshman Atiyyah Henderson earned his first start at tailback, while on defense, junior transfer Ray Bass got the nod at one safety spot.

FIELD POSITION
* Aztec opponents have started a drive in SDSU territory 11 times thus far in 2006. The Aztec defense has allowed just five scores on those 11 possessions and has forced three turnovers.

ON FOURTH DOWN
* SDSU coverted its fifth and sixth fourth-down conversions in 10 chances in 2006 (60 percent). Combined with the Aztecs' 10-for-17 effort in that category in 2005, SDSU has made 16 of its last 27 fourth-down conversions (59.3 percent) ... SDSU opponents are 1-for-4 on fourth-down plays this season.

WHAT A DRIVE
* SDSU put together a 15-play scoring drive for the second consecutive contest ... The drive took 8:31, the Aztecs longest scoring drive in 2006, surpassing the team's 7:33 effort versus Utah.

THE 30 CLUB
*With his 30-yard field goal in the second quarter, SDSU junior place-kicker Garrett Palmer became just the fourth player in school history to record 30 career field goals. Palmer is now 30-for-43 in career field goals.

THE 50 AND BEYOND
* SDSU's scoring drive for a touchdown in the first half marked the first time in the team's last 34 possessions that the Aztecs have started a drive on their opponent's side of the field.

FUMBLE REPLAY
* Aztec defensive end Nick Osborn recovered a fumble for the second straight game in the first quarter and for the third time in his career. Nose tackle Jonathan Bailes forced his second fumble of 2006 and the fourth of his career ... Senior cornerback Terrell Maze recovered his first career fumble in the second quarter, which was forced by classmate Reggie Grigbsy (1st of 2006, 2nd career).

BREAKING IT UP
* SDSU senior cornerback Donny Baker moved into fourth place in school history in career pass break-ups with 29. He is now tied with Jeff Shoate, Marlon Andrews and Mike Fox and is eight behind Aztec career leader Eric Lewis, who had 37 PBUs.

IN THE RED
* SDSU improved to 7-for-8 in red zone scoring opportunities in 2006... The Aztecs have scored TDs on five of the eight chances (62.5 percent).

OTHER AZTEC NOTES
* Sophomore Tyler Campbell scored his first career touchdown on his fourth career carry in the first half ... Joe Martin had a season-high 11 tackles against SJSU. It is the first time an SDSU player has reached double-figures in tackles in 2006.
