San Diego State junior Anna Booth (Coffs Harbour, Australia) edged teammate sophomore Maki Kamimura (West Covina, Calif.) by one stroke to win the individual title Tuesday at the La Quinta Inn & Suites Mountain Shootout in Flagstaff, Ariz. Booth logged a final round 1-over-par 74 to give her a 36-hole total of 2-over 148, just one stroke better than Kamimura, who carded a 3-over 149, including a 75 in the final 18 holes.

Booth's 36-hole total of 148 was a career best by one stroke, while her pair of 74s tied as the best rounds of her career. She ended the tournament with eight birdies and 21 pars over the two days and led the field in par 4 scoring at 1-under. It is Booth's first career title and she beat her previous best individual finish by five spots.

Booth became the second consecutive SDSU player to garner medalist honors at the tournament, which was hosted by Northern Arizona. A year ago, Megan McLeod (Fallbrook, Calif.) won the title by two strokes with a 1-under 145 over 36 holes.

Kamimura, meanwhile, ended up with a career best second-place finish at 3-over 149. She recorded pars on 25 of the 36 holes over the two-day period and was third in the field in both par 3 (+1) and par 5 (-3) scoring.

Besides Booth and Kamimura, five other Aztecs also competed as individuals in the 55-golfer field. Junior MacKenzie Swecker (Winnemucca, Nev.) improved her first round score by five strokes to end up at 13-over 159, which was good for 22nd place. Redshirt freshman Ashley Wood (Lake Tahoe, Calif.) and junior transfer Kim Carmody (Palatine, Ill.) tied for 46th at 32-over 178, while freshmen Marcela Campbell (Glendale, Calif.) and Baylee Turner (Las Vegas, Nev.) finished in 48th and 49th place, respectively.

The Aztecs will stay on the road for their next fall tournament, the Ron Moore Women's Intercollegiate, scheduled for Sept. 25-26, at the Highlands Ranch Country Club in Highlands Ranch, Colo.

Final-round scores with relation to par Sept. 19, at the La Quinta Inn & Suites Mountain Shootout, played at the par-73, 6,032-yard Continental Country Club in Flagstaff, Ariz.
