SAN DIEGO - San Diego State rebounded from an opening-day loss Friday evening to defeat Hofstra, 3-0 (30-28, 30-24, 30-16) in Saturday's first match at the Aztec Invitational in Peterson Gym. The victory evened the Aztecs' record at 1-1 while the Pride fell to 0-2.

In the opening game of the match, the teams stayed within a point of each other until the score was 15-15. At that point, SDSU rattled off four straight points, eventually increasing its advantage to six at 23-17. Hofstra fought back to close within a point (24-23), but couldn't quite catch up as Audra Dent registered the final kill of the contest to give the Aztecs the win. Dent finished with six kills in the game.

Game two saw San Diego State trail late (20-21), before rallying for five straight points to take a lead it would not relinquish. Melanie Greene recorded the final two kills of the game to close it out while Dent and Darnall had six apiece during the contest.

The third game was all Aztecs as the home side never trailed after taking an early 2-1 lead. SDSU hit .515 for in the contest led by six kills from Greene.
