SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State football team worked out for the final time Friday afternoon before its second scrimmage of fall camp. The Aztecs, who will play host to the annual Family Day scrimmage at Qualcomm Stadium on Saturday, spent nearly two and a half hours practicing without pads at the on-campus facility.

"I don't know (how many plays we will run tomorrow)," SDSU head coach Chuck Long said. "We've got some guys banged up, so we probably won't go as long as we did (during the first scrimmage), especially since we're getting closer to game week. We may just go with eight to 10-minute quarters, much like we did in the spring game, although we're not quite sure yet. We're excited to be going to Qualcomm and want to put on a good show for our fans."

Friday's workout included mostly individual drills and special teams preparation, followed by a short stint of 7-on-7 and 11-on-11. SDSU mainly focused on walking through offensive and defensive alignments during the last half of practice.

The Aztecs have practiced at least once in each of the last 14 days since fall camp opened on Aug. 5. The team will get its first day off on Sunday before resuming its camp schedule Monday with a two-a-day practice.

San Diego State's annual Family Day is scheduled for this Saturday at Qualcomm Stadium. Family Day, including parking, is free to the public, although SDSU will be accepting donations of stuffed animals that will be presented to Children's Hospital. The stadium will open at 1 p.m. at Gate E, where fans will be greeted by Tailgate Town, which will feature the Aztec flea market and games. At the flea market, surplus apparel, including gear from the football and basketball squads, will be available for purchase. Season ticket holders can pick up their stadium blanket inside Tailgate Town as well.

The Family Day scrimmage is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. and will last approximately two hours. An autograph session with SDSU football players will start shortly after the conclusion of the scrimmage.

The story behind the music:
Beginning last spring, Chuck Long started playing music on the field during pre-practice stretching drills. He liked the energy it brought to the beginning of practice and will continue to utilize it during the fall. Coach Long has solicited lists from athletic department personnel, media and throughout the University and plans to select a different playlist every day.
