STARKVILLE, Miss. - San Diego State freshman Erin Floros (San Diego/Mt. Carmel HS) has been named to the 2006 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division I All-America Third Team. The honor, which is voted on by coaching representatives for the NFCA, is the first for an Aztec in the program's 30-year history.

The 2006 Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year and first-team all-West Region selection, Floros put together one of the finest seasons in SDSU history as the Aztecs won their third MWC regular season championship in five years. In 49 games, she batted .388 (No. 2 all-time) and recorded the highest ever slugging percentage (.558) and on-base percentage (.467) in SDSU history.

Floros also led the team in hits (57), doubles (13), total bases (82), multi-hit games (18) and multi-RBI games (seven), and was second with four home runs.

Over the final 19 games, she batted .492 (30-for-61) with 10 RBI, including a team-best .364 (4-for-11) at the NCAA Regional in Los Angeles.

A catcher, Floros also shined on the defensive side of the ball. Committing only two errors in 295 chances for a remarkable .993 fielding percentage, she threw out 57.9 percent (11 of 19) base stealers and picked off five runners.

SDSU, which finished the campaign with a 34-15 record and its best winning percentage (.694) in program history, will return 17 of its 21 players for the 2007 season, including eight starters.
