SAN DIEGO - Three Aztecs were named to the 2006 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I all-West Region team. Freshman Erin Floros (San Diego/Mt. Carmel HS) earned first-team honors, while sophomore Christina Ross (Santa Clarita, Calif./Univ. of Kansas) and senior Meagan Hartung (San Diego/Granite Hills HS) garnered second-team accolades. The three San Diego State (32-13) selections were the most in the west region, which consists of teams from the Mountain West Conference (MWC), the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) and the Big West Conference.

Floros, the 2006 MWC Freshman of the Year, became the third SDSU student-athlete to be named to the first team and the first since Bre DeSanta in 2003. Through 45 games this season, she is batting .390 with three home runs and 20 RBI. Floros leads the Aztecs in hits (53), doubles (12) and multi-hit games (17), while her on base percentage of .471 is tops on the SDSU single-season top 10. A catcher, she has thrown out 11 of 19 base stealers (57.9 percent), picked off five runners and has committed only two errors in 265 chances for a fielding percentage of .992.

The 2006 MWC Pitcher of the Year, Ross is 16-8 with a 1.77 ERA. In 150.0 innings pitched this season, she has struck out 115 batters and has walked just 28, while limiting opponents to a .231 batting average. A transfer from University of Kansas, Ross is ranked among the all-time Aztec single-season leaders in win percentage (tied-fifth, .667), strikeout-to-walk ratio (seventh, 4.1-to-1) and wins (16).

Hartung, a two-time all-MWC selection, leads the squad with 142 at-bats and 12 stolen bases. She is the only SDSU student-athlete to start all 45 games this season and has 10 multi-hit games. Hartung is batting .296 and is second on the team with 31 runs scored and 20 walks.

The Aztecs, who won the 2006 MWC regular season for the third time in five years, will play Long Beach State (30-20) at Easton Stadium on the campus of UCLA at 2:35 p.m. Friday. No. 2 UCLA (43-7) and Missouri State (40-15) are the other teams in the four-team, double-elimination Los Angeles regional bracket. The winner of the regional will advance to Super Regionals, where two teams will compete at eight sites in a best-of-three format. The eight winners will then advance to the Women's College World Series (June 1-7) in Oklahoma City, Okla.
