SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State softball team swept a doubleheader against Colorado State at SDSU Softball Field on Sunday afternoon. The Aztecs, who are receiving votes in the latest ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate national poll, won the first game, 3-1, and earned a 4-1 victory in the nightcap. SDSU improved to 6-0 in Mountain West Conference action and 21-8 overall, while the Rams fell to 3-3 in the MWC and 22-12 overall.

In the first game, Colorado State, which was also receiving votes in the latest ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate national poll, got a first inning run when Tara Harbert reached on an error and later scored on a RBI single by Julia Kloppe.

In the bottom half of the first, freshman Erin Floros hit a two-run home run, her third of the season, to give the Aztecs a 2-1 lead.

SDSU tacked on another run in the fifth. Sophomore Chrissie Markham reached first base after being hit by a pitch and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by classmate Allison Smith. Senior Bree Boyer singled to the shortstop and senior Megan Hartung walked to load the bases with only one out. Sophomore Tamani Wells then popped out on a bunt attempt. However, the Ram catcher dropped the ball after the catch, which allowed Markham to score the Aztecs' final run.

Boyer (1-for-2), Floros (1-for-3, two RBI) and sophomore Megan McDonald (1-for-3) each had hits for SDSU.

Sophomore pitcher Christina Ross (10-5) scattered nine hits over 7.0 innings to earn her fourth consecutive win for the Aztecs. She struck out five batters without a walk and allowed one unearned run. Ross lowered her ERA to 0.88 and has not allowed an earned run in 24.0 innings against MWC competition.

In the second game, Kloppe hit a second inning home run to give Colorado State another early 1-0 lead.

SDSU rallied for three runs in the fourth off three hits and a Ram error. Sophomore Taryin Casillas singled to second base and advanced to second on a groundout by Markham. Smith hit a first-pitch double down the right field line to score Casillas and tie the game at 1-1. After Boyer was hit by a pitch, Hartung singled to center field and Smith scored when Colorado State's Katie Dean committed an error on the throw to the plate. Junior Christina Hollingshead followed with a fielder's choice RBI for the Aztecs' third run of the inning.

In the sixth, Floros singled home Hartung, who reached first on a bunt single, for SDSU's fourth and final run of the game.

Casillas (2-for-3, run), Hartung (2-for-4, run) and Wells (2-for-3) each had two hits apiece for the Aztecs, who outhit the Rams, 9-4, in the game.

Senior Celena Velasquez (6-3), who was pitching in her first game since March 18, struck out seven over 7.0 innings for her 44th career complete game. She gave up only four hits and allowed just one run.

SDSU will host UNLV for a MWC doubleheader at 1 p.m. Saturday.
