ST. GEORGE, Utah - Unable to move up into fourth, the San Diego State women's golf team held onto their fifth place ranking from yesterday, as they wrapped up the final day at the Mountain West Conference championship tournament, in St. George, Utah on the par-72, 6,299-yard Entrada Snow Canyon Country Club golf course. The Aztecs, who finished with an overall team score of 930 (+66), were only three shots over TCU.
Freshman Maki Kamimura (West Covina, Calif.) led all Aztec golfers with a 13th place finish after carding a 229 (+13). On the day, junior Jamie Oliver (Los Alamitos, Calif.) led the Aztecs with the lowest individual 18-hole round of 78 (+6). Oliver, though, finished in a tie for 23rd with an overall 236 (+20).
Alana Erlandson (Palm Desert, Calif.) finished with fellow freshman, Kamimura, in the top 20 with a 17th place finish. Erlandson, in her first 54-hole tournament for the spring portion of the season, ended with a 231 (+15), marking the third highest 54-hole score for the spring. She also broke her season 54-hole record of 236, but five strokes.
Megan Mulhaupt (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.), who finished in 22nd, tied her 54-hole score on the season with a 234 (+18). Rounding out the starting five, sophomore Anna Booth (Coffs Harbour, Australia), ended with a 251 (+35), putting her in 32nd on the leaderboard.
UNLV took the team title for the second consecutive year, and also claimed the individual title with two other players from New Mexico.
