ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Dita Hauerlandova and Sisse Nielsen defeated the No. 3 ranked doubles team in the nation to lead the 33rd-ranked San Diego State women's tennis team to its fourth straight victory as it defeated No. 48 New Mexico, 4-3, at Lobo Tennis Club Friday afternoon. With the win, the Aztecs improve to 15-6 overall and 6-1 in Mountain West Conference play. Meanwhile, the Lobos fall to 13-6 (4-3 MWC).

SDSU opened the afternoon by posting one of the biggest wins in program history as Hauerlandova and Nielsen beat No. 3 Maja Kovacek and Iva Gersic, 8-3, at No. 1 doubles. New Mexico evened the scored when it notched a win at No. 2, but the Aztecs' Esther Cadua and Eliska Krausova proved to be too tough at No. 3 as they went on to record an 8-4 victory giving SDSU one team point.

In singles, the Lobos knotted the score at one apiece when No. 39 Kovacek got the best of 84th-ranked Hauerlandova, 6-2, 6-3, at first singles. Next off the court was Krausova, who pocketed a 7-6, 6-1 win at No. 3, giving the Aztecs the overall lead, 2-1.

New Mexico responded when Mackenzie White recorded a straight sets victory over Cadua at No. 6. However, San Diego State would return the favor with Alesya Vidov's three-set triumph over Nora Quintal at No. 2.

Vidov's effort turned out to be the decisive moment in the contest because at No. 5, Nielsen clinched the match with her fifth straight win. The sophomore was extended to three sets, but came away with a 6-0, 1-6, 6-4 victory over Jennifer Ryba handing the Aztecs their sixth conference win.

With the outcome already decided, the Lobos' Lucy Scott provided the contest with its final score as she beat Milana Yusupov, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 4.

"Today was a great team win in adverse weather conditions," said head coach Peter Mattera. "I am really proud and it just shows how much heart this team has. We're really looking forward to the TCU match."

The Aztecs, with a chance to claim a share of the regular season title, will be back in action Saturday, April 15, when they face league-leading TCU (16-6; 7-0 MWC) in Albuquerque at 9 a.m. MDT.
