SAN DIEGO - The 31st-ranked San Diego State women's tennis team dropped a narrow 4-3 decision to No. 19 Harvard Wednesday afternoon at Aztec Tennis Center. With the loss, SDSU falls to 11-6 overall.

The Aztecs started the day by losing the doubles point in heartbreaking fashion. At No. 1, SDSU's Dita Hauerlandova and Sisse Nielsen defeated Stephanie Schnitter and Eva Wang by a score of 8-6. After Harvard was victorious at No. 2, Lyly Cao Minh and Cindy Chu edged Esther Cadua and Milana Yusupov, 9-7, to give the Crimson a 1-0 lead.

In singles, both schools split six singles matches giving Harvard the victory.

Highlighting singles play for the Aztecs was Alesya Vidov's win over No. 85 Elsa O'Riain at No. 2. The junior Russia posted a 6-1, 6-2 victory to give herself her first career win over a nationally ranked opponent.

Others recording wins for San Diego State were sophomores Eliska Krausova and Sisse Nielsen. Krausova fought her way to a tough three-set, 6-1, 3-6, 7-6, victory over Laura Peterzan at No. 3, while Nielsen earned a 7-6, 4-6, 10-8 win over Preethi Mukundan at No. 5.

SDSU will return to the courts April 7 when it plays host to Colorado State. Match time is set for 2 p.m. PST at Aztec Tennis Center.
