The San Diego State women's golf team is tied for seventh place with a first round 318 (+30) Monday at the 16-team Oregon Duck Invitational. The Aztecs are in a three-way tie with New Mexico State and host Oregon, 18 strokes behind leader Idaho, at the par-72, 6,191-yard Emerald Valley Golf Course in Creswell, Ore.
The end of Monday's second round was postponed due to darkness after play was delayed an hour to start the event due to frost. Teams will resume the second 18 holes Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. and will wrap up action with another full round later in the morning.
SDSU has two players in the top 14 of the 85-golfer field after the first 18 holes. Senior Megan Mulhaupt (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.) used 13 pars to led the way with a 4-over 76, including a 35 on the front nine, which is good for 10th place. Sophomore Anna Booth (Coffs Harbour, Australia) is just one stroke behind with a 5-over 77 and is tied for 14th.
Aztec freshman Maki Kamimura (West Covina, Calif.) is tied for 30th with an 8-over 80, while junior Jamie Oliver (Los Alamitos, Calif.) and freshman Petra Cole (San Diego, Calif.) each logged first-round efforts in the mid-80s.
Idaho's Jennifer Tucker is atop the individual leaderboard at 2-under 70. First round scores with relation to par March 27, at the Oregon Duck Invitational, played at the par-72, 6,191-yard Emerald Valley Golf Course in Newberg, Ore.
