SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State men's golf team can chalk up another tournament win, after finishing with a 880 (+16) final score at the 2006 Callaway Golf Invitational hosted by the University of San Diego on the par-72, 6,911 yard Farms Golf Club Course, located in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.
The Aztecs opened the day by finishing up the second round, which was cancelled yesterday due to darkness. Unfortunately after the second, they moved down the leaderboard to second place, sitting one stroke under cross-town rival - and tournament host - San Diego. The Aztecs staged a comeback in the third round, to move back into first place with a 292-300-288--880 (+16) final score. SDSU ended 12 shots ahead of cross-town rival, San Diego.
Senior Andrew Scott led the Aztecs with a second place finish, after carding a 214 (-2) final. In the past three spring tournaments, Scott has carded four sub-par rounds, three of which were in the 60s. Overall on the year, Scott has eight sub-par rounds, with five of those sub-par rounds in the 60s.
Sophomore Cory Segall tied for sixth - his best finish on the year - with a 5-over 221. Follow Segall, and tied for 10th, were sophomores David Palm and Aaron Goldberg who both finished the tournament with a 223 (+7) final score. Senior Josh Warthen tied for 37th with a final 230 (+14).
