SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State men's golf team moved into first, after carding a 4-over 292 at the 2006 Callaway Golf Invitational hosted by the University of San Diego on the par-72, 6,911 yard Farms Golf Club Course, located in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. Unfortunately, the second-round of play at the invitational could not be completed today due to darkness.
After the first round, SDSU was four strokes ahead of second place, California, and five strokes ahead of St. Mary's and Loyola Marymount, who were tied for third. Senior Andrew Scott led SDSU, placing in second overall with a first-round, 3-under 69.
Sophomore Cory Segall tied for eighth with a 1-over 73, and sophomores David Palm and Aaron Goldberg rounded out the top 25, both tying for 18th. Rounding out the starters for the Aztecs, senior Josh Warthen finished the first round of play with a 5-over 77, putting him in a tie for 38th on the leaderboard.
The second and third rounds of the Callaway Invitational will conclude tomorrow with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start.
