The San Diego State women's basketball team (3-23, 0-16) will face Colorado State (8-19, 2-14) Tuesday at 5 p.m. MST (4 p.m. PST) in the first game of the 2006 Mountain West Conference Championships at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colo.

The Aztecs, who earned the No. 9 seed, and the Rams, the No. 8 seed, will play each other for the first time in the seven-year history of the MWC championships. The two schools have met two times previously in a conference tournament as members of the Western Athletic Conference with each side winning once. SDSU claimed the first outing in 1994 in the WAC title game, while the Rams got their revenge in 1996.

The winner of Tuesday's SDSU-Colorado State game will face the top-seeded and 18th-ranked Brigham Young Cougars on Wednesday at 6 p.m. MST.

Colorado State won the earlier two meetings between the two schools, edging the Aztecs by three points in Fort Collins (68-65) on Jan. 5, before downing SDSU, 68-55, in San Diego on Feb. 4. San Diego State owns the advantage in the all-time series at 17-13, including a 13-5 mark under head coach Beth Burns.

Tuesday's game with Colorado State will not be televised, however, live audio, video and stats will be available on San Diego State's official website, www.goaztecs.com.
