WESTLAKE VILLAGE, CALIF. - The San Diego State men's golf team finished the first round of the Ashworth Invitational, hosted by the University of Southern California, in 12th place with a 16-over 300 on the par-71, 6,742 yd. North Ranch Country Club course in Westlake Village, Calif.
Unlike the pristine weather conditions the Aztecs experienced in their last tournament in Hawaii, the Ashworth Invitational was suspended today due to heavy rains and excess water on the golf course, during the middle of the second round of play. The tournament may continue tomorrow, if the rain lets up.
For now, sophomore Aaron Goldberg leads the Aztecs with a first round, 14th place finish, as he carded a 1-over 72. Before the tournament was suspended, Goldberg was at even par on the on the front nine, with five away from finishing the second round.
Senior Andrew Scott is currently tied for 42nd in the middle of the second, followed by senior Josh Warthen - tied for 59th - and sophomore David Palm, who is tied for 61st. Sophomore Jamie Puterbaugh, in his first spring tournament, is in 81st.
