MALIBU, Calif. - San Diego State claimed three of six singles matches, but could not win the doubles point to begin the afternoon as they fell to No. 23 Pepperdine, 4-3, at Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center Thursday afternoon. The loss is SDSU's third straight, all against top-25 competition, and drops their record to 3-4 on the season. The Waves improved their season mark to 7-0.

In singles, three Aztecs put a stop to multiple-match losing streaks beginning with Alesya Vidov, who disposed of Sylvia Kosakowski, 6-7, 6-3, 10-6, at the second position. At No. 3, Eliska Krasova cruised to a straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, victory over Caroline Raba to put an end to her two-match skid, while Esther Cadua was a 6-3, 6-2 winner over Merve Asimgil.

Earlier in the afternoon, the Waves swept all three doubles matches to give them the extra point needed to pocket the narrow victory.

No. 55 San Diego State returns to action Saturday, Feb. 25, as it plays host to No. 67 UC Irvine at Aztec Tennis Center beginning at noon. The match will be part of a men's and women's tennis doubleheader as the 50th-ranked SDSU men entertain East Tennessee State at the same noon time start.
