SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State men's tennis team got victories from senior Benedikt Stronk (Berlin, Germany) and junior Christian Groh (Crailsheim, Germany) on Sunday at the Aztec Invitational played at SDSU's Aztec Tennis Center. The Aztecs, ranked 43rd nationally, clashed with No. 53 Arizona State for a third consecutive day as the final slate of competition between the two schools featured only singles matches.

Stronk was extended to three sets by the Sun Devils' Wes Miller, but still managed to post his second triumph of the weekend, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. Groh, meanwhile, saw his first action of the tournament, upending ASU's Christopher Biro in a super tiebreaker, 6-3, 4-6, 10-6.

"I thought we accomplished a lot over the weekend," said SDSU head coach Gene Carswell. "We're making progress as a team and we know what we have to work on heading into the season."

The Aztecs open their dual match season next Saturday when they play host to UC Riverside on Jan. 21, scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. at Aztec Tennis Center.
