SAN DIEGO - San Diego State's Erika Sutton (Arvada, Colo.) has been named to the Soccer Buzz Freshman all-Far West Region team. The honor is the first by an Aztec since Kim Castellanos was named to the team in 2000.

Sutton, a forward, led the team in scoring with five goals and 10 assists for 20 points, most by a SDSU player since Castellanos had 21 points in 2000. Her 10 assists were good enough for third on the all-time Aztec single-season list and were the most since Lori LaCoursiere had 10 helpers in 1998.

Sutton, who also garnered second-team all-Mountain West Conference accolades, became the fourth SDSU freshman to be recognized by Soccer Buzz, joining Castellanos, Fay deLeon (1998), Kaycee McElree (1998) and LaCoursiere (1996).

The Aztecs finished 2005 with an 11-9-2 overall record, their most wins in a season since the 2002 squad went 13-7.
