Game time is set for 7:05 PST, with the contest airing in both the San Diego and Las Vegas markets via SportsWest (Channel 4 San Diego). Dave McCann (play-by-play), Blaine Fowler (analysis) and Jodi Bacon (sidelines) will call the action. The contest is available nationally through ESPN's Full Court. XPRS-1090 will provide radio coverage in San Diego with Ted Leitner providing play-by-play.
San Diego State rebounded from a heartbreaking 65-62 loss at Air Force last Saturday to record a 72-67 victory at Utah on Wednesday. It was the first Aztecs victory at the Huntsman Center since 1982, and broke a six-game overall losing streak to Utah, a 22-game winless streak in the Huntsman Center and snapped a 23-game losing streak to the Utes in Salt Lake City.
San Diego State fell behind 23-10 and at one point had as many turnovers (10) as it did points. But the Aztecs responded by chipping the deficit down to two points and scoring on eight consecutive offensive possessions in the second half building a seven-point advantage before withstanding three potential tying three-point attempts in the final 21 seconds.
Junior guard Brandon Heath recorded his career-best fifth consecutive game with at least 20 points and reached that plateau for the 30th time in his career with a game-high 21 points and season-highs with eight assists and six rebounds. Junior forwards Mohamed Abukar added 16 points and seven rebounds and Marcus Slaughter had 14 points.
SDSU outrebounded Utah, which entered the game as top rebounding margin team in the league, 35-25, and shot 50 percent or better from the floor for the fourth straight game.
UNLV is in sole possession of first place in the conference race following an 88-77 victory at Wyoming and an 82-72 home win over Brigham Young on Saturday.
The Aztecs are 6-1 at home this season and have won four straight at Cox Arena.
