SAN DIEGO - Former San Diego State basketball star Randy Holcomb was signed to a 10-day contract by the Chicago Bulls, the NBA club announced Thursday. Holcomb rejoins the club after spending time at their training camp this past fall.

Prior to the acquisition, Holcomb had started 17 of 19 games this season for the Gary Steelheads of the CBA, averaging 20.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. He also played in six preseason contests for the Bulls, where he averaged 5.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 12.3 minutes per game.

Holcomb started all 61 games at San Diego State from 2000-02 after transferring from L.A. City College. He scored 1,002 points and grabbed 481 rebounds during his two-year stint on Montezuma Mesa and was a first-team all-Mountain West Conference selection both seasons.

During his senior campaign, Holcomb also helped the Aztecs secure their first NCAA tournament bid in 17 years after earning MVP honors at the 2002 MWC Championship.

Originally selected by the San Antonio Spurs with the 57th overall pick in the 2002 NBA draft, Holcomb has played in Europe and has also attended training camps with the Atlanta Hawks and Indiana Pacers.
