SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State Aztec Athletic Foundation raised a record $1.3 million for student-athlete scholarships at its annual fund drive, which concluded yesterday. This year's grand total surpasses the previous total of $1.2 million set last year. It also marks the fifth year in a row that the foundation has set a new record in donations.
The drive had its kickoff celebration on April 14, and concluded last night with a victory celebration hosted by SDSU President Dr. Stephen Weber. The $1.3 million raised will go toward the $4.4 million student-athlete scholarship commitment.
"Building on the momentum from past fund drives, our volunteers and benefactors have once again risen to the challenge of raising scholarship dollars on behalf of our student-athletes," said Bob Moosbrugger, assistant athletic director and director of the Aztec Athletic Foundation.
The Aztec Athletic Foundation is the athletics fundraising arm that raises money for student-athlete scholarships through donations. The foundation is made up of friends, fans, alumni, and businesses that proudly support SDSU Athletics.
