SAN DIEGO - San Diego State women's soccer head coach Mike Giuliano has announced the signing of Erika Sutton (Arvada, Colo.) to a National Letter of Intent. Sutton becomes the second national pool player and fifth regional player to sign in Giuliano's first recruiting class.
"Erika (Sutton) is one of the most explosive forwards in the country," said Giuliano. "She scored probably the two most impressive goals at the ODP regional tournament in Las Vegas two weekends ago. She will help us immediately."
Giuliano's ninth signee, Sutton is currently in the pool for the national team and has previously trained with the Under-19 National Team.
A four-year member of the Colorado Rush Soccer Club, Sutton played the past two seasons with fellow Aztec signees Millie Allen and Carrie Blakenbuhler. She helped the squad to three consecutive state cups and a second-place finish at the 2003 regionals in Hawaii.
Sutton also played for Ralston Valley High School and led the Mustangs to three straight Jessco league titles. She garnered all-state and all-league recognition after her junior and senior seasons.
The Aztecs are coming off a season in which they went 8-7-6 and advanced to the 2004 Mountain West Conference championship game.
