COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The San Diego State swimming and diving team won eight individual events and set the school record in the 400 medley relay en route to a first-place finish in a three-team meet in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Friday. The Aztecs finished with 183 points, easily outdistancing host Colorado College (48 points) and McMurray (Texas) University (three points).
Junior Kimberlee Frith and freshman Rosalie Raymond each picked up a pair of victories for SDSU. Frith won the 100 freestyle in 54.03 seconds and took first in the 200 free with a time of 1:59.78. Raymond earned first-place finishes in the 500 free (5:24.28) and 1,000 free (11:02.29).
Other individual wins on the day went to senior Samantha Peters in the 50 free (24.83), junior Stella Karoly in the 100 butterfly (1:00.47), freshman Lizette Patterson in the 200 individual medley (2:16.12) and freshman Megan Flanagan in the one-meter diving event with a team season-best mark of 247.41 points.
In relay competition, the quartet of sophomore Diana MacManus, freshman Kendal Twilling, Karoly and Frith won the 400 medley relay in a school-record time of 3:39.72.
The Aztecs will stay in Colorado for a meet against conference foes Air Force and Colorado State at 1 p.m. MST Saturday.
