Results

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The San Diego State swimming and diving team finished sixth of 10 teams at the UNLV Winter Invitational in Las Vegas, Nev., on Monday night. UC Santa Barbara won the three-day meet with 932 points, followed by Rice (784 pts.) and the host Rebels (732). Northern Arizona (338), Cal State Bakersfield (250) and the Aztecs (215) rounded out the top six.

Junior Kimberlee Frith led SDSU once again with a ninth-place showing in the 100 freestyle in a time of 52.22 seconds. The time was a season best for the Orange Coast College transfer and only 0.12 seconds off the school record. Yesterday, Frith won the 200 free in an Aztec record time of 1:51.48.

Freshman Rosalie Raymond took eighth in the 1,650 free (17:47.63), while sophomore Katie Smith (11th place, 2:09.29) and junior Sarah Davis (15th, 2:13.34) set season best times in the 200 backstroke.

Freshmen Emily Pool (2:16.13) and Lizette Patterson (2:26.98) took 12th and 13th in 200 breaststroke, and junior Emily Parker was 13th in the 1,650 free with a time of 18:00.9.

The quartet of seniors Samantha Peters and Emily Schmied and juniors Stella Karoly and Frith teamed up for a 14th-place (3:40.15) showing in the 400 free relay.

In diving competition, freshman Megan Flanagan ended up ninth at both the one-meter (186.70) and three-meter (199.35) heights for SDSU.

The Aztecs will be away from competition until they host TCU on Jan. 6 at 1 p.m. at the Ray and Joan Kroc Community Center.
