SAN DIEGO - San Diego State came up short Wednesday evening as it dropped a 3-1 (30-25, 26-30, 30-28, 30-21) decision to UNLV in Peterson Gym. The loss was the third straight for SDSU, which saw its record fall to 14-12 overall and 6-7 in the Mountain West Conference. The Rebels, meanwhile, improved to 13-12 as they remained in third place in the league standing with a 9-4 mark in conference play.

Melanie Greene led San Diego State with 14 kills while teammates Audra Dent and Lindsey Noll chipped in with 13 and 12 respectively. The latter two also contributed four blocks apiece, but their efforts weren't enough to stave off defeat.

SDSU sophomore Lindsey Mahan tied a career high with seven blocks while libero Aime Cordeiro had a match-high 16 digs.

UNLV's Maria Aladjova and Lauren Miramontes led all players with 19 kills apiece while Michelle Banks had 10. The latter also had 10 blocks over the four games.

Despite having three players finish in double figures in kills, inconsistency on offense was a problem for the Aztecs much of the evening. As a team, SDSU hit .163 on the night compared to .2892 for UNLV.

In the first two games, the Aztecs led the Rebels over the first two-thirds of each contest, only to fall behind late on. In the first game, UNLV caught SDSU at 18-18 and went on to the five-point win.

In the second contest, SDSU led until the visitors knotted the contest at 19-19 and eventually took a 25-23 lead. However, unlike the opening game, the Aztecs ran off five straight points and went on to win the game and even the match at 1-1.

In the third game, the lead went back and forth until the teams were tied at 28-all. From there, a pair of Aztec errors gave the Rebels the game and ended the home side's momentum from game two.

The close loss in the third game carried over into game four as San Diego State hit just .059 in a nine-point loss.

SDSU now hits the road for its final away match of the season as it travels to Fort Worth, Texas, where it will face TCU on Friday, Nov. 11, at 7:00 p.m. (CST).
