KANEOHE, HAWAII - The 21st-ranked San Diego State men's golf team finished the first day of competition at the University of Hawai'i Fall Intercollegiate in fourth place with a 4-over, 292 first-round score. The UH Fall Intercollegiate is played on the par-72, 6,559-yard Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course.
After going 35 and 36 on the front and back nine holes respectively, sophomore Aaron Goldberg led the Aztecs tied for eighth with a 1-under, 71. Also finishing in the top-25, were seniors Andrew Scott, who finished the day tied for 14th with an even-par first round score, and Josh Warthen, who finished 2-over-par and tied for 23rd.
Sophomore David Palm finished with a first-round score of 75, followed by Chad Moscovic who finished tied for 64th with a 5-over, 78.
New Mexico State University ended the day atop the leader board with a 5-under, 283. The Aztecs are only six shots away from No. 8 UNLV (286) and two shots behind No. 24 Baylor (290), both teams holding the second and third place respectively.
SDSU will start the second round of the tournament tomorrow at 8 a.m. HST.
