SAN DIEGO - San Diego State athletic director Jeff Schemmel announced today that Cal Poly has been added to the 2006 football schedule. The Aztecs and Mustangs will meet on Oct. 28th in San Diego at Qualcomm Stadium.

The game against Cal Poly completes San Diego State's 2006 non-conference schedule and fills the vacancy created when Sacramento State notified SDSU that they were not going to play next year's game with the Aztecs.

"We are pleased to bring closure to a difficult situation," Schemmel said. "Although this game will cost us more money, we are fortunate to have found a replacement game at this late date. We are appreciative of the efforts the Mountain West Conference has made with regard to scheduling to allow us to play a non-conference game in October."

The Aztecs and Mustangs have met 22 times on the gridiron, with San Diego State owning a 13-9 series lead. The teams last met in 1967, with the Aztecs winning, 26-20.
