* - The Storyline - After falling behind 7-0, San Diego State dominated Southern Mississippi and cruised to a 28-point victory in the third-place game at the BP Top of the World Classic in Fairbanks, Alaska. The Aztecs went 2-1 in the eight-team, four-day tournament and matched its best record after three games in the last 11 seasons.
* - SDSU SCHOOL RECORD - The Aztecs broke a school-record in the game, connecting on 10-of-13 three-point field goals in the contest (76.9 percent)... That broke the record of 75.0 percent on 9-of-12 shooting set against Texas Tech on Dec. 28, 1988.
* - The 28-Point Margin - The 28-point margin of victory was the widest for the Aztecs since defeating UC San Diego 86-51 on Nov. 27, 2004... It was the largest over a Division I opponent since a 74-44 win over Long Beach State on Nov. 21, 2003... It was the widest margin of victory in a road game since Jan. 22, 1985, when the Aztecs defeated U.S. International, 112-74.
* - Brandon Heath (16 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists) - With 16 points on Sunday, Heath became the 21st player in school history and the 12th player in the Division I era to reach 1,000 career points... Heath has 1,002 career points and is tied with Randy Holcomb for 20th place on the school's all-time chart... He connected on 10-of-23 three-point field goal attempts (43.5 percent) through three games... Heath has made a three-point field goal in six straight games dating back to last season, going 20-of-42 (47.6 percent) during that stretch... He also leads the Aztecs in assists with 10 through three contests.
* - Marcus Slaughter (game-high 18 points, 5 rebounds) - Responded from having his 28-game double-digit scoring streak snapped, Slaughter responded with a game-high 18 points... Slaughter has 760 career points and needs 240 points to join Heath as the 22nd member of the SDSU 1,000-point club... The junior is averaging 14.3 points and 7.0 rebounds while connecting on 51.6 percent of his passes through three games this season.
* - Trimaine Davis (10 points in 17 minutes) - Davis reached double figures twice in three games during the tournament, including 10 points on Sunday against Southern Mississippi... He is averaging 10.0 points with four blocked shots through three games... He heads back to San Diego having connected on 12-of-16 attempts from the field (75.0 percent).
