Nov. 18, 2005
SAN DIEGO - San Diego State junior goalkeeper Tally Hall has been selected to the 2005 first-team all-Pac-10 conference first team, one of five Aztecs honored by the league for their play during SDSU's inaugural season in the league.
Hall has been among the national leaders in goalie stats this season and enters this week ranked third in goals against average (0.41) and first in shots on goal save percentage (0.905). He led the conference in both categories this fall while setting a new SDSU shutout record with 12.
In addition to Hall, Aztec sophomore midfielder Kraig Chiles and senior defender Matt Couch earned second-team all-Pac-10 accolades. Chiles led SDSU in goals with seven and was second in the league in that category. Couch's one assist in 2005 came on the game-winning goal in the win over nationally-ranked Cal in early October. He has been a starter for the Aztecs the past four seasons.
Two other San Diego State players received honorable mention: senior forward Heath Creager and senior defender Eric Santiago. Creager tied for the team points lead with six goals and a pair of assists while Santiago was part of the Aztec defense that recorded the third-most shutouts in school history.
San Diego State, which recently received its first bid to the NCAA Tournament since 1989, will be at UC Santa Barbara on Saturday (Nov. 19) to face the Gauchos in first-round action at 1:00 p.m.
