SAN DIEGO - San Diego State sophomore placekicker Garrett Palmer (Rialto, Calif.) has been named the Mountain West Conference Football Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in the team's 30-10 win over Colorado State, the league office announced Monday.

Palmer converted all three of his field-goal attempts and three extra point attempts in windy conditions Saturday in Fort Collins, Colo. Palmer tied his career game-high with the three field goals from 22, 47 and 48 yards out. The latter two came during the second quarter, helping SDSU to a 20-3 advantage at the half. The 48-yarder was a season long for the sophomore, who improved to 12-for-14 on field-goal attempts in 2005.

It is the second career honor for Palmer, who was also tabbed MWC Special Teams Player of the Week in 2004, after he hit all three of his field-goal attempts in snowy weather in the Aztecs' 37-31 victory at Air Force.

He is the third SDSU player to be tabbed for conference honors in 2005, joining linebacker Russell Allen (Oct. 3) and safety Reggie Grigsby (Oct. 17), who were both named the league's defensive player of the week in October.

San Diego State rounds out its conference and home schedule this Saturday against Wyoming at 5 p.m., before closing out the 2005 campaign at Hawai'i on Dec. 3.
